News Alert: Police respond to threat at Comfort Inn

PERE MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP — Law enforcement officers are on scene of the Comfort Inn, 5323 US-10. According to Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole, deputies initially responded to a call of a man at the hotel brandishing a gun and making threats. The area surrounding the hotel has been blocked off by police and fire department units.

Units on scene include Mason County Sheriff’s Office, Ludington Police Department, Michigan State Police, Pere Marquette Township Fire Department, and Life EMS.

Cole reports the situation has been contained to a specific area of the hotel and there is no threat to the public. The public is being asked to avoid the area.

UPDATE, 9:09 p.m.: The subject is in custody.
