Obituary: Scott Ronald VanderZanden, 59, of Pentwater

Scott Ronald VanderZanden, 59, of Pentwater, passed away on Thursday April 4, 2024.

Scott was born on March 8, 1965, the son of Ronald and Wanda VanderZanden. He graduated from Hart High School in 1983 and went on to serve in the U.S. Navy, stationed in Port Hueneme, California, where he worked in Naval Mobile Construction. His dedication to his military service was unwavering and he was honorably discharged after six years.

Outside of his military duties, Scott was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and enjoyed various hobbies, including kayaking, golfing, mushroom hunting, and fishing. His adventurous spirit and love for the outdoors brought him joy and fulfillment. Scott was an excellent caregiver to all those he encountered, and he will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Scott is survived by his parents, Ronald and Wanda VanderZanden; daughters, Brittany (Chuck) Evans, and Katie (Chris) Fultz; stepson, Gary (Val) Gustafson; brother, Jeff VanderZanden; grandchildren, Christopher, Zoey, and Addison Evans, Natalie Payne, and Cora Fultz; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Scott was preceded in death by his wife, Mary VanderZanden; maternal and paternal grandparents; and in-laws, John and Olga Gillis.

 A memorial service will be held Tuesday April 16, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Oak Grove Funeral Home of Ludington. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m.
