Woman reportedly ‘nodding off’ in parking lot arrested for heroin, meth possession

AMBER TOWNSHIP — A 36-year-old Ludington woman was arrested on charges of heroin and methamphetamine possession Wednesday, April 3, shortly after 8:30 p.m. ​following a 911 call requesting a wellbeing check of a female in a vehicle who appeared to be “nodding off” in the Meijer parking lot, said Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole.

“A deputy arrived and observed a syringe with a needle in the front seat that contained a substance that later would test to be heroin,” said Sheriff Cole. “Meth was also located in the vehicle.” She was lodged in the Mason County Jail.

The following is other police activity in Mason County Wednesday, April 3, 2024:

  • 8:03 a.m., (Mason County Sheriff’s Office), car/deer crash, no injury, Custer Road north of Wilson Road, Custer Township.
  • 8:10 a.m., (Ludington Police Department), a 62-year-old Scottville woman was cited for driving without insurance following a traffic stop at Washington Avenue and Haight Street, City of Ludington.
  • 7:11 p.m., (MCSO), one-vehicle crash, no injury, Countyline and Quarterline roads, Grant Township.
  • (LPD), a 40-year-old Ludington woman was arrested on a felony warrant for possession of cocaine, heroin or another narcotic less that 25 grams, 600 block of East Danaher Street, City of Ludington. She was lodged in the Mason County Jail. (Time of incident unavailable.)
