WSCC, Vogue Theatre to hold April film series

WSCC News is presented by West Shore Community College in partnership with Mason County Press. 

MANISTEE — The West Shore Community College Humankind series will hold a mini film series during the month of April at the Vogue Theatre in Manistee, kicking off Saturday, April 6 at 10 a.m. All films are free and open to the public. Each film also includes a free pop and popcorn for each attendee.  Below is the list of films with showtimes:

  • “Wonder” (2017 drama): Saturday, April 6 at 10 a.m.
  • “The Intouchables” (2011 comedy drama): Thursday, April 11 at 7 p.m.
  • “Bad Axe” (2022 documentary): Tuesday, April 16 at 7 p.m. This showing will feature a question and answer session with David Siev, director of the film.
  • “Barbie” (2023 fantasy comedy): Friday, April 26 at 7 p.m.

The film series is part of the seventh year of the Humankind series, focused on the theme, “Inclusion: Conversations Around a Crowded Table.”

“This April we are looking forward to presenting another great Humankind Film Series in collaboration with West Shore Community College,” said Kelsey Rhodes, general manager of operations at the Vogue Theatre. “We have worked together to select films that showcase the greatness of inclusion in cinematic storytelling both in front of and behind the camera.  When everyone is welcome to fully participate in society, and film-making, we all benefit. We look forward to the reflection on and celebration of diversity throughout this series.”

The Humankind series is West Shore Community College’s culture and arts lecture series. The series consists of lectures, presentations, workshops, art exhibitions, film series, and much more. For more information about the Humankind series, visit westshore.edu or email humankind@westshore.edu.
