Obituary: Gene F. Tracy, 77, of Saginaw, formerly of Ludington

Gene F. Tracy, 77, beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother passed away Thursday, March 14, 2024 at Great Lakes Rehab Center. Son of the late Peter and Lucille (Neubauer) Tracy, Gene was born September 22, 1946 in Detroit. He served proudly in the U.S. Marine Corps., First Battalion Seventh Marines Combat Division, in Vietnam. He was honored to serve at the American Legion Post #76 as commander of the Honor Guard for 10 years.

Gene previously married Sandra Wisniewski. He then married Nancy L. (Davis) Johnson, his loving wife of 16 years, on September 20, 2008; she survives him.

Gene was a bookkeeper in Detroit, Ludington, and Saginaw and was the current owner of GNT Bookkeeping Solutions, LLC. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Catholic War Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars and other veteran organizations.  Gene enjoyed gardening, fishing, cooking and especially spending time with his family.

Surviving besides his wife Nancy are one daughter and two sons, Melissa and Jeremy Helton, Houston, Texas; Nicholas Tracy, Washington, D.C.; Alec Tracy, Houston, Texas; two stepsons, Dave (Michelle) Johnson, Winters, California; Tim (Amanda) Johnson, Marquette; a daughter-in-law, Victoria Johnson, Saginaw; 11 step-grandchildren, Jakub Helton, Jayden Helton, Jagger Helton, Alyvia Cross, Kathryn Johnson, Danielle Johnson, Ashley (Sefra) Chavarria, Samuel Johnson, Marin Johnson, Jack Johnson, Nora Johnson; one brother, Bill (Nancy) Tracy; three half-sisters and two half-brothers, Michele (David) Ingram, Laura (David) Krauser, Marsha (Rod) Rawson, Dave (Mary) Tracy, and Kevin (Patti) Tracy; several nieces and nephews. Gene was preceded in death by a step-son, Gregory Johnson; and a step-daughter, Kathryn Johnson.

Honoring Mr. Tracy’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will take place at the American Legion Post #76 in Ludington at a date to be announced later. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Michigan Parkinson Foundation or American Legion Association Post #76 Honor Guard.
