LHS to present ‘Fiddler on the Roof’

LUDINGTON — The Ludington High School Drama Club and Choirs will present the musical “Fiddler on the Roof” Thursday, March 14 to Sunday, March 17 at L.F. Peterson Auditorium. Show times are Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. Cost is $5 general admission and free for children ages 5 and under.

“Fiddler on the Roof” is a musical with music byJerry Bock, lyrics by Sheldon Harnick and book by Joseph Stein. It is set in the Paul of Settlement of imperial Russia about 1905 and is based on Tevye and his daughters (or Tevye the Dairyman) and other tales by Sholem Aleichem. The story centers on Tevye, a milkman in the village of Anatevka, who attempts to maintain his Jewish religious and cultural traditions as outside influences encroach upon his family’s lives. He must cope with the strong-willed actions of his three older daughters who wish to marry for love; their choices of husbands are successively less palatable for Tevye. An edict of the tsar eventually evicts the Jews from their village.

Audience members should note the parking lot at Peterson Auditorium reamins under construction. The closest parking is at the main LHS parking lot (east side) off of Anderson Street. There is no direct sidewalk to the auditorium and audience members will need to walk north alongside the high school’s northeast wing and then follow the sidewalk which will eventually lead to the auditorium entrance.
