Scottville Senior Center to host presentations for Alzheimer’s caregivers

SCOTTVILLE — One of the most challenging situations anyone can face is caring for and managing affairs of a loved one with Alzheimer’s disease or another incapacitating medical condition. Help is at hand for those heroic caregivers.

The Alzheimer’s Association Michigan Chapter is hosting a series of three free monthly caregiving presentations, covering financial management and other key issues, at the Scottville Area Senior Center, 140 S. Main St.

The series begins Thursday, March 14, at 11 a.m. with a seminar on Managing Money: A Caregiver’s Guide to Finances.

Everyone is welcome, regardless of age, to attend any or all of the presentations. To register, please call the Scottville Senior Center, 231-757-4705 or the Help Line, anytime, at 800-272-3900. Additional information is available by calling Susan Evans at 231-267-6119.

The series is presented in partnership with financial advisor Julee Sarto, Executive Wealth Management, and attorney Andrea McKenzie of Pehrson Law.

Future presentations in the series:

  • Dementia Conversations: Driving, Doctor Visits, Legal and Financial Planning. Thursday, April 11 at 11 a.m.
  • Behavior: Understanding and Responding to Dementia-Related Behavior and Enjoying Family Celebrations. Thursday, May 8 at 11 a.m.

Light refreshments will be provided during the meeting. Lunch is available after each meeting by calling in a reservation no later than 9 a.m. the day of the meeting.
