Custer man charged with larceny by conversion

HART — A 41-year-old Custer man faces up to five years in prison for a felony charge of larceny by conversion $1,000-$20,000.

Eric Charles Golembiewski, of 1444 N. Custer Rd., allegedly embezzled $15,000, said Oceana County Prosecutor Joseph Bizon. 

“The events that led to the charges occurred on or around Dec. 21, 2023,” said Bizon. “Oceana County has jurisdiction in this matter due to a complicated analysis resulting in the loss of money taking effect here. The venue is listed as Hart Township.”

A jury trial in Oceana County’s 51st Circuit Court is set for Aug. 7-9. According to his court file, Golembiewski was offered a plea arrangement this week of serving nine months in jail and paying $15,000 in restitution, but he rejected the offer.

“Due to the restrictions of MRPC (Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct) 3.6 and 3.8 regarding limitation of pretrial statements, I cannot release any more details on the facts of the case,” said Bizon.
