Obituary: Gregory Gerbers, 49, of Ludington

Gregory John Gerbers, 49, of Ludington, formerly of Edwardsville, Illinois and Evansville, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 10, 2024. He was born on August 28, 1974, the son of Bill and Gail (Hosmer) Gerbers.

He moved from Edwardsville to Ludington in 1990 and he was a proud graduate of Ludington High School, class of 1998. He loved his Ludington community to the very end and would bristle at the suggestion of living anywhere else.

After graduation, Greg stayed active through competing in the Special Olympics, working at Dimensions Unlimited, and enjoying his recurring summer job at House of Flavors. He took a tremendous amount of pride in fulfilling his responsibilities. He also greatly enjoyed his time years ago worshiping and singing at Lakeside Chapel.

In his free time, Greg greatly enjoyed sitting in his easy chair, putting his feet up, and watching anything related to Michigan sports. He was an avid Tigers, Pistons, Red Wings, Lions, and Michigan Wolverines fan, and he had all the related gear and decorations to match. When he wanted to be more active, he was right at home bowling at Spartan West.

He is survived by his brother Matthew of Kihei, Hawaii.

He was preceded in death by his father, Bill Gerbers, and his mother, Gail Gerbers. He held a deep reverence for those no longer with us and he never passed up an opportunity to recall the memories of his many relatives, and his sweetie Anna Marr, who passed before him. He often remarked that they were all in Heaven, and now he goes to join them.

He was incredibly fortunate with all the kind and compassionate helpers that came into his life along the way, and he liked to remind his brother of how much he liked and appreciated his dutiful local caregiver, Nikki Finney.

Greg was a beam of pure joy and love to anyone who got close to him, and the memories of his grace in the face of loss will be a source of comfort to his family, friends, and those who knew him.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday January 18, 2024, at 12:30 pm. at Oak Grove Funeral Home of Ludington.

Oak Grove Funeral Home of Ludington is honored to assist the family during this difficult time.
