Open house to honor Kran, retiring library board president
SCOTTVILLE — The Mason County District Library will honor Robert Kran, retiring board president, during an open house on Wednesday, Dec. 20 at 5 p.m. at the Scottville Library. Kran has served on the library board since 2008. During that time, Robert has been a part of many changes to library service, including the construction of the Ludington Library addition in 2012.
Kran is owner of Kran Farms of Free Soil Township and has also served for many years on the board of directors of Great Lakes Energy co-op.
Kran served as vice chair and served on the library’s personnel committee for many years. He took over as board chair after Ivan Anthony retired in 2021.
The open house will begin after the regular meeting of the library board. Cookies and coffee will be served. The Scottville Library is located at 204 E. State St.
During its regular monthly meeting, tonight, the Mason County Board of Commissioners will appoint Kran’s replacement. Candidates include Seán Henne of Sherman Township and Susan Hasenbank of Meade Township.
The Board of Commissioners meets at 7 p.m. at the Mason County Airport Terminal, 5300 W. US 10, Pere Marquette Township, at 7 p.m.
