Ruckus at Walmart leads to arrest

PERE MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP —A 33-year-old Ludington man was was arrested by Mason County sheriff’s deputies Friday, Dec. 8, around 10:30 p.m. following a 911 call reporting an “irate” male in Walmart who was refused the sale of a knife, according to Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole.

“Deputies had previous contacts with this subject following a wellbeing check of a female at a local hotel in the area and a call at Culver’s where this male had reported being assaulted,” said Sheriff Cole. “The assault was unfounded, and the wellbeing check of the female was closed as the female refused to cooperate.

“During the arrest and contact, the suspect was found to be highly intoxicated — to the point of just talking gibberish and incoherently.”

He is charged with disorderly person.
