Obituary: Gorden Zacharda, 87, of Scottville

Gorden “Gordie” Zacharda, 87, of Scottville, formerly of Ludington and Owosso, passed away Wednesday Wednesday, December 6, 2023. Gordie was born October 31, 1936, the son of John and Phyllis (Jones) Zacharda.

Gordie attended Coruna High School and later worked as a supervisor for 27 years at Savage Manufacturing. He retired in 1994 from his position at Marvin Windows after 15 years. Gordie married the love of his life, Janet (Pedersen) Zacharda, on June 2, 1955.

Gordie was a lifetime member of the Eagles. He was a true outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing, and had a love of all animals, especially puppies. Gordie always looked forward to enjoying breakfast at Brenda’s Café with the guys.

Gordie is survived by his son, Philip (Georgia) Zacharda of Ludington; grandchildren, Buffie (Russell) Dana of Greenville, Meribeth Zacharda of Mount Pleasant, and Mike (Cassie) Zacharda of Greenville; daughter, Wendy (Terry) Johnson of Scottville; grandchildren, Tonya (Cody Kwiatt) Bates of Scottville, Bryan Bates of Fountain, Amanda (Jesse Rap) Johnson of Ludington, and Easton Johnson of Howell; son, Bret (Marcy Socher) Zacharda of Ludington; grandchildren, Jarrett Zacharda of Leroy, Coltin Zacharda of Grand Rapids, and Tucker (Kyleigh Carr) Zacharda of Twin Lake; great grandchildren, William (Graciela) Fay, Maddison Fay, Jeremiah Zacharda, Jaylon (Jazmin Verschueren) Bates, Keegan (Tiffany Lafrance) Bates, Brody Hays, Abby Hays, and Owyn Bates; brother-in-law, Leigh Johnson of Wyoming; his special girls, Katy Haynes and Miranda Heyer that took the most amazing care of him and became family; Jamie Rafter, who was always there for him over the last year and a half; grand fur babies, Baroo, Jax, and Remi who slept with him until the end and will truly miss their snacks with grandpa.

Gordie was preceded in death by the love of his life, Janet (Pederson) Zacharda, if not for her death in 2015 they would have celebrated 68 years together this year; father, John Zacharda; mother, Phyllis (Jones) Zacharda; father-in-law, Harold Pedersen; mother-in-law, Beatrice Pedersen; brother, Gene Zacharda; sister, Carol Zacharda Lazzari; brother-in-law, Jack Lardi; sisters-in-law, Helen Lardi and Patricia Johnson.
