Man fueled by drugs bites deputy’s hand

LUDINGTON — A warrant is being sought for a 19-year-old man believed to be under the influence of drugs for invading a home and biting a Mason County sheriff’s deputy Friday, Dec. 8, shortly after 11 p.m. in the 600 block of North Rath Avenue, according to Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole.

Deputies responded to a reported home invasion, and upon arrival responding police officers, state troopers and sheriff’s deputies found the suspect on the floor in a residence, said Sheriff Cole. “It was suspected this person was under the influence of drugs.”

While attempting to remove him from the house, he bit a deputy on the hand, biting through the skin. The suspect was transported to Corewell Health Ludington Hospital for the suspected drug use, said the sheriff.
