Obituary: Andreas Rose, 79, of Ludington

Andreas Peter Rose, 79, of Ludington, formally of Germany, passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2023.

Andy was born on October 3, 1944, the son of the late Albert and Maria (Wadwicz) Rose. In 1963 he graduated from Ludington High School. For over 45 years he was employed by the carferries in Ludington and retired in 2009 from Lake Michigan Carferry Service. On August 6, 2023, he married Janice (Zay) Rose.

Andy enjoyed visiting with family and friends, entertaining them with his love of playing the accordion. He would share his passion for playing at events at the VFW as well.  He also loved woodworking in his garage.

Andy is survived by his wife, Janice Rose; daughters, Louise (Pete) Johnson, Selena Schmidt, Sandy (Jody) Anderson; stepchildren, Jim, Jr. and Shelia Gum, Tim and April Gum, Julie and Dale Rasmussen, Tracy and Shaw Fitzgerald, Tom and Juanita Gum; sisters, Harriet (Edwin) Sibey, Teresa (Bob) Wing; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Andy was preceded is death by his wife, Dorothy Rose; parents, Albert and Maria Rose; brothers-in-law, Dennis Hansen and Doug Hansen; sister-in-law, Sandra Rogers; and special niece, Mary Leonard.

A celebration of life will be held on January 20, 2024, at VFW Gold Bar Post, in Custer. A time will be determined at a later date.
