Suspect with over 5 grams of suspected meth caught after fleeing from deputy

LUDINGTON — A 46-year-old Ludington man had just over 5 grams of suspected methamphetamine in his possession when was arrested by a Mason County sheriff’s deputy after fleeing on foot from a traffic stop at the intersection of Washington Avenue and Danaher Street Monday, Nov. 6, shortly after 5 p.m., according to Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole.

“Following a short foot chase — about a city block, the suspect was captured and resisted the deputy attempts to handcuff him,” said Sheriff Cole.

The suspect, who was arrested on felony charges of methamphetamine possession and assaulting/resisting/obstructing police, was lodged in the Mason County Jail.

The following is other activity of the Mason County Sheriff’s Office Monday, Nov. 6, 2023:

  • 5:40 a.m., one-vehicle crash, no injury, First Street west of Stiles Road, Amber Township.
  • 2:08 p.m., two-vehicle crash, no injury, US 31 and North Scottville Road, Custer Township.
  • 3:18 p.m., two-vehicle crash, no injury, Darr and Hoague roads, Free Soil Township.

No activity was reported for Monday, Nov. 6, 2023 by the Ludington Police Department and the Scottville Police Department.
