51st Circuit Court sentencings, posted Oct. 27, 2023

LUDINGTON — The following were sentenced recently in Mason County’s 51st Circuit Court:

Hathaway

– Jasen David Hathaway, 39, pleaded guilty Aug. 29 to fourth-degree fleeing and eluding police and driving while license suspended and was sentenced Oct. 17 to 127 days in jail with credit for 127 days served; two years probation; and $448 in fines and costs.

Finley

– Abraham Necoli-Nelson Finley, 26, pleaded guilty Sept. 14 to methamphetamine possession and was sentenced Oct. 24 to 47 days in jail with credit for 47 days served; two years probation; and $658 in fines and costs.

LaPorte

– Bobbie Jo LaPorte, 39, pleaded guilty Sept. 5 to assaulting/resisting/obstructing police and was sentenced Oct. 24 to 30 days in jail with credit for three days served; two years probation; and $258 in fines and costs.

Verboam

– Michaela Lou Verboam, 30, pleaded guilty Sept. 5 to tampering with an electronic monitoring device (tether) and was sentenced Oct. 24 to 86 days in jail with credit for 86 days served and $498 in fines and costs. Her sentence runs concurrently to a probation violation term for convictions of controlled substance possession — cocaine, heroin or another substance and assaulting/resisting/obstructing police, in which she received a three-year probation term during a Sept. 5 sentencing. She was also sentenced to one year in jail with credit for 84 days served and $666 in fines and costs. She pleaded guilty to those charges Jan. 24.

Christopher

– Cory David Christopher, 35, pleaded guilty Sept. 5 to prisoner in possession of contraband and controlled substance possession — cocaine, heroin or another substance and was sentenced Oct. 24 to nine months in jail with credit for 39 days served and $266 in fines and costs.

Chrysler

– Jared Michael Chrysler, 33, pleaded “no contest” Sept. 5 to assaulting/resisting/obstructing police and received a delayed sentence Oct. 17 of 250 days in jail with credit for 250 days served; 11 months probation; and $398 in fines and costs. A delayed sentence hearing is set for Aug. 20, 2024.* 

Engels

– Michael Robert Engels, 47, pleaded guilty Aug. 29 to interfering with electronic communications and domestic violence and received a delayed sentence Oct. 17 of one day in jail with credit for one day served; 11 months probation; and $508 in fines and costs. A delayed sentence hearing is set for Aug. 20, 2024.*

*If a defendant successfully completes probation during a delayed sentence, their conviction can be reduced or dismissed.
