Obituary: Nancy Grant, 87, of Fountain

Nancy Lynne Grant, 87, of Fountain passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Tuesday, October 10, 2023. Nancy was born on October 4, 1936 in Grand Haven, the daughter of Peter and Caroline (Hiler) Molenkamp.

On April 1, 1967 she married Brian Grant in Grand Haven and they celebrated 54 years together before Brian’s death in 2021. For over three decades, Nancy and Brian welcomed more than 100 foster children into their hearts and home.

When reflecting on Nancy’s life there is one word that seems to be repeatedly woven throughout her tapestry of time— family.  In every word and deed, she shared her love with her family, the people she considered her greatest gifts and blessings. A cherished wife, mother and grandmother, Nancy lived her life with a giving spirit and a heart that never emptied itself of love for her family.

Nancy will be greatly missed by her children: William (Teri) Geno of Grand Haven, Marcia (Bruce) Lyons of Grand Haven, Jodi (Ken) Budzynski of Fountain, and Barbara (Frank) Willoughby of Fountain, as well as numerous adopted/fostered children.

Nancy’s most treasured title was being a great-grandmother to Kendylle and Adalynn, daughters of Jessica (Charlie) Cregg; Luke and Nora, children of Katelynn (Alan) Andersen; John and Ella, children of Shaun (Melanie) Willoughby; Ryan, son of Sarah (Nick) Sheffield; Abbey, daughter of Matt Willoughby; Russell and Joshua, sons of David Aldrich; Lydia and Asher children of Josh (Jen) Geno; Brinlee, daughter of Chris Geno; and Joe Fenner, Courtney Lyons, and Ashley Willoughby.

Along with her husband Brian, Nancy was also preceded in death by her son, Jeffrey Grant and daughter, Susan Grant.

According to her wishes, cremation has taken place and a graveside burial will be held at Fountain Cemetery on November 4 at 1 p.m., followed by a luncheon at Sherman Township Hall in Fountain.
