Man arrested on dangerous drug warrant after allegedly chasing woman with knife

PERE MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP — A 47-year-old Ludington man was arrested following a 911 call of a male chasing a female with a knife Tuesday, Oct. 10, shortly after 12:30 a.m.​ in the 100 block of South Pere Marquette Highway, according to Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole.

“Deputies arrived and recovered a knife from the scene, and no injuries were reported,” said Sheriff Cole. “The male was arrested on an outstanding felony dangerous drug warrant for possession of meth out of Indiana. Charges are requested related to the assault.”

The following is other recent activity of the Mason County Sheriff’s Office:

Monday, Oct. 9, 2023:

  • 5:08 a.m., alarm activation, Amber Township.
  • 7:03 a.m., car/deer crash, no injury, US 10 east of Tuttle Road, Custer Township.
  • 7:30 a.m., car/deer crash, no injury, Fountain Road west of Custer Road, Sherman Township.
  • 8:55 a.m., two-vehicle crash, no injury, Jebavy Drive and Johnson Road, Pere Marquette Township.
  • 9:03 a.m., a warrant is being sought for a 29-year-old Fountain woman following a call reporting an assault, 4000 block of East Church Street, Village of Fountain. The reported suspect had left the area prior to arrival of deputies. During the investigation, a 31-year-old Fountain man was arrested on an outstanding Muskegon County warrant for failure to appear.
  • 1:19 p.m., ​aggravated domestic assault, 5700 block of Barton Road, Pere Marquette Township. A warrant is being requested for a 44-year-old Ludington man following a reported assault that had taken place approximately one week prior.
  • 1:30 p.m., gas drive-off, $25 in fuel stolen, Murphy Gas, 4800 block of West US 10, Pere Marquette Township.

Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2023:

  • 5:25 a.m., car/deer crash, no injury, Sixth east of Pere Marquette Highway, Pere Marquette Township.
  • 7:35 a.m., car/deer crash, no injury, Taylor Road south of Johnson Road, Branch Township.
  • 11:59 s.m., two-vehicle crash, no injury, US 10 and Jebavy Drive, Pere Marquette Township.
  • 5:33 p.m., ​a 37-year-old Fountain man was arrested for operating while intoxicated following a traffic stop, Chauvez Road and Pere Marquette Highway, Pere Marquette Township.

No activity was reported by the Scottville Police Department or the Ludington Police Department for Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 9 and 10, 2023.
