Victory man, 80, arrested for assault with intent to commit murder

VICTORY TOWNSHIP — An 80-year-old Victory Township man was arrested Thursday afternoon and faces felony charges of assault with intent to commit murder following an incident at Waste Reduction Systems, 5848 N. Stiles Rd.

According to Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole, Mason-Oceana 911 received a call at 12:45 p.m. reporting a personal protection order (PPO) violation at the business.

While taking the call the 911 Center reported shots had been fired, with people attempting to secure themselves in a residence on the property, Cole said.

Mason County sheriff’s deputies then responded.

“Arriving deputies spotted the suspect in his vehicle attempting to leave the parking lot area and a traffic stop was made,” Cole said. “The suspect was taken into custody without incident and a handgun recovered.”

Deputies reported multiple shots had been fired and a vehicle the victim was in was disabled by gunfire.

Deputies arrested David Matthew Jabrocki, 80, who remains lodged at the Mason County Jail, awaiting arraignment. Jabrocki had been banned from the property through the PPO.

Jabrocki had previously been arrested in June 2019 and charged with two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon (felonious assault) and felony firearm charges. All three charges were dismissed in 51st Circuit Court in exchange for a no contest plea of brandishing a firearm in public, in which he received a sentence of serving one day in jail.
