Mason, Oceana counties under severe thunderstorm warning

The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids issued a severe thunderstorm warning Wednesday, July 26, until 10:45 a.m. for southern Mason County and northern Oceana County.

“At 9:55 a.m. EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from 12 miles southwest of Ludington State Park to 10 miles west of Charles Mears State Park (in Pentwater) to 20 miles west of Silver Lake State Park, moving northeast at 45 mph.”

Expect 60 mph wind gusts, causing damage to roofs, siding and trees. Severe thunderstorms will be near Ludington around 10:10 a.m.

“Other locations in the path of these severe thunderstorms include Scottville, Silver Lake State Park, Mears, Hart and Pentwater.”

Both counties are included in a severe thunderstorm watch until 4 p.m. Wednesday.
