Wanted man attempts to flee from officer

LUDINGTON — A 37-year-old Ludington man wanted on an active warrant attempted to flee from a Ludington police officer, but the suspect eventually surrendered to the officer and was taken into custody Tuesday, July 11, around 10:15 p.m. in the ​200 block of East Second Street, according to a press release from the Ludington Police Department.

​​”The officer responded to speak with a female about a stolen property incident. When the officer arrived, he saw a gentleman on the porch that he knew to have an active warrant out.​ Upon making contact with the 37-year-old Ludington man, he informed him of the warrant. The suspect then turned and attempted to leave the porch. The suspect eventually surrendered to the officer and was taken into custody.”

The man was lodged at Mason County Jail. Ludington police were assisted by the Mason County Sheriff’s Office. His warrant was issued in Kent County for contempt of court with a $5,049/cash only bail. Police are requesting an additional charge of resisting and obstructing a police officer.
