Obituary: Marilyn Myrtle Lague, 80, of Manistee, formerly of Scottville

Marilyn Myrtle Lague, 80, of Manistee, formerly of Scottville, passed away Sunday May 21, 2023. Marilyn was born March 25, 1943, the daughter of Harry and Hilda Nutting. Marilyn moved from Chicago to Scottville for her nine grade year and stayed. She graduated from Mason County Central in 1961. Marilyn adopted her new last name, Moberg, from her adoptive parents, Carl and Mildred Moberg, in 1964. On July 28, 1973, she married the love of her life, Robert Lague.

Marilyn was the director of medical transportation at the Family Independent Agency in Manistee County. She spent 10 years working there until her retirement in 2014. She also held a position at Emanuel Lutheran Church of Ludington as secretary.

Marilyn was a social and outgoing woman. She was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge and took an active role in the Mens and Friends Support Group. She often volunteered at Gus Macker, was a Thanksgiving server at Emanuel Lutheran Church, and helped sell poppies for the VFW. Marilyn was a woman of great faith and prided herself with the love of Christ. You could often find her watching NASCAR, Tigers baseball, or the Kansas City Chiefs football. She loved bowling with the Chopos Bowling Team and attending Friday night dinners with her friends at local restaurants. Marilyn had a big heart which was shown in her love of animals. She also enjoyed watching her grandson, Kaiden, play sports. After her retirement she was able to spend most of time with Kaiden, as she babysat him often. Even though her other grandchildren live in Georgia they were always close to her heart. Marilyn was a yes-woman. She always said yes to helping those that needed it including house sitting and dog sitting. She always seemed to form a special bond with all her neighbors and their children.

Marilyn is survived by her son, Jason Lague; daughter-in-law, Sonya (VanTassel) Lague; grandson, Kaiden Lague; granddaughter, Michaela (Trey) Walker of Cartersville, GA; and great grandchildren, Tucker Walker, Theron Walker, and Mikynna Walker.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her adoptive parents, Carl and Mildred Moberg; husband, Robert Lague; sister, Susan Rader; and brother-in-law, Dan Rader.

Memorial contributions in Marilyn’s honor can be made to the family to help with cremation expenses. Arrangements have been entrusted to Oak Grove Funeral Home of Ludington, www.oakgroveludington.com.
