Obituary: Patricia Hakanson, 80, of Ludington

Patricia Lou (Bowden) Hakanson, 80, of Ludington, passed away on Sunday, May 7, 2023, in Muskegon.

Patricia was born on June 29, 1942, the daughter of Jack and Arbutus (Mattis) Bowden. In 1960, she graduated from Ludington High School. On July 14, 1967, she married the love of her life, Roger Hakanson. Together they shared over 50 years together until his passing in 2020. For 24 years she was employed by Whitehall Industries working as a machine operator, until her retirement in 2004. She was also a proud and active member of Rolling Thunder, Chapter 1.

Patricia had a deep love for family. She loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren very much. She would spend much of that time with them and friends on Hamlin Lake, and camping.  Before her husband passed, she would often be found on the road with him on his motorcycle. Patricia also had a green thumb. She enjoyed spending time outside, tending to her garden. 

Patricia is survived by her children, Deborah (Chris) Fay, Cathy (Danny) Vandervest and Robert (Paula) Hakanson; stepdaughter, Lisa Shelly; 11 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; sister, Betty (Earl) Dixon; brother, Jack (Mary) Bowden Jr.; and several nieces and nephews.

Patricia was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Hakanson; and parents, Jack and Arbutus Bowden. 

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, May 28 from 1 to 3 p.m. at 1717 N. Stiles Rd., Amber Township (Ludington). Memorial contributions may be made out to the family.
