Deputies find meth on man who was being arrested on meth possession warrant

CUSTER TOWNSHIP —Mason County sheriff’s deputies were arresting a 59-year-old Scottville man on a felony methamphetamine possession warrant Friday, March 31, around 8:30 p.m. when they found more meth on the suspect, according to Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole.

“Meth was found on him during a ‘pat down’ during the arrest procedure for the warrant,” said Sheriff Cole. The arrest occurred in the 100 block of East Conrad Road.

Friday, March 31, 2023:

• 2:47 a.m., (Mason County Sheriff’s Office), car/deer crash, no injury, Custer Road south of Hawley Road, Eden Township.
• 3:55 p.m., (Michigan State Police), a 62-year-old Grand Rapids woman was arrested on a failure to appear warrant, M 116 near Piney Ridge Road, Hamlin Township.
• 4:09 p.m., (MCSO), a 39-year-old Ludington woman was arrested for retail fraud following several calls related to alleged thefts, Walmart, 4800 block of West US 10, Pere Marquette Township.
• 6:56 p.m., (MCSO), a 35-year-old Scottville man was arrested on an outstanding failure to appear warrant issued in Ottawa County for failure to pay child support warrant, 400 block of North Main Street (City of Scottville.
• 7:53 p.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injury, Custer Road north of Freeman Road, Free Soil Township.
• ​11:41 p.m., (Ludington Police Department), a 61-year-old Ludington woman was arrested for domestic assault and battery, 700 block of East Danaher Street, City of Ludington​. The victim, who is a 66-year-old Ludington man, was not injured. The woman was lodged in the Mason County Jail.

Saturday, April 1, 2023:

• Noon, (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injury, US 10 west of Budzynski Road, Branch Township.

Sunday, April 2, 2023:

• 3:28 a.m., (MCSO), alarm activation, Branch Township.
• 6:30 a.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injury, Victory Corners Road north of Hansen Road, Amber Township.
• 9:28 a.m., (MCSO), hit-and-run crash, no injury, 2600 block of North Rath Road, Hamlin Township. A vehicle struck a mailbox some time during the night.
• 12:32 p.m., (LPD), a 24-year-old Ludington man was arrested on an outstanding failure to appear warrant issued by the 79th District Court, 600 block of East Melendy Street​, City of Ludington. The original charge was larceny. He was lodged in the Mason County Jail.
• 5:36 p.m., (MCSO), ​a 67-year-old Walhalla man was arrested on an outstanding failure to appear warrant issued in Mason County, 200 block of Gibson Road, Branch Township.
• 5:46 p.m., (MCSO), alarm activation, Branch Township.
