Circuit court sentencings, posted March 23, 2023

LUDINGTON — The following were recently sentenced in Mason County’s 51st Circuit Court. 

Aguilar

– Sara Rose Aguilar, 33. Offense date, Aug. 24, 2021. Arrested by Mason County Sheriff’s Office. Count 1: possession of methamphetamine/ecstasy. Plea, guilty, on April 12, 2022. Sentencing, one day in jail with credit for one day serviced, 10 months probation, fines/fees.

Carsten

– Corey Evan Carsten, 37. Offense date, Aug. 22, 2022. Arrested by Ludington Police Department. Count 1: assault with a dangerous weapon (felonious assault); count 2: assault and batter. Plea: counts 1 and 2, no contest, on Dec. 6, 2022. Sentencing on March 21, 2023: counts 1 and 2, 12 months in jail with credit for two days served; fines/fees.

Jansma

– Jason Larry Jansma, 46. Offense date, Feb. 1, 2022. Counts 1 and 2: breaking and entering a building with intent. Plea, guilty on Jan. 1, 2023. Sentencing on March 21, 2023: counts 1 and 2, six months in jail; three years probation, fines/fees (concurrent). 

Nettles

– Michael Owen Nettles, 31. Offense date, Oct. 23, 2022. Arrested by Ludington Police Department. Count 1: domestic violence and/or knowingly assaulting a pregnant individual third degree. Plea, guilty, on Nov. 11, 2023. Sentencing: 12 months jail with credit for 84 days served; fines/fees.  

Oskaboose

– John Kenneth Oskaboose, 26. Offense date, Nov. 4, 2022. Arrested by Ludington Police Department. Count 1: Unlawfully driving away a motor vehicle (felony). Count 2: Unlawful use of a motor vehicle (two year misdemeanor). Plea, March 21, 2023: Count 1, dismissed; count 2: guilty. Sentencing on March 21, 2023: Count 2, three days in jail with credit for three days served; two years probation; fines/fees. 

Verboam

– Michaela Lou Verboam, 29. Offense date, Dec. 3, 2022. Arrested by Ludington Police Department. Count 1: Controlled substance possession of cocaine, heroin or another narcotic. Count 2: Assaulting/resisting/obstructing a police officer. Plea, on Jan. 24, 2023: Counts 1 and 2, guilty. Sentencing: Counts 1 and 2 (concurrent): 12 months in jail with credit for 84 days served; three years probation; fines/fees. 

Young

– Devonta Gene Young, 27. Offense date, Oct. 18, 2022. Arrested by Mason County Sheriff’s Office. Count 1: Larceny of $1,000 or more but less than $20,000. Plea on Jan. 17, 2023. Sentencing on March 21, 2023: Eight months in jail with credit for 154 days served; fines/fees.
