Visiting MCC’s Immersion Technology Classroom

Spartan News is a presentation of Mason County Central Schools in partnership with Mason County Press.

SCOTTVILLE — Mason County Central students have been exploring the district’s new immersion room. Located in the high school, the room is one of the first in the country to offer 4-dimensional technology. It features seven projectors, along with multiple sensors that allow students to have interactive learning experiences. The room also features 4-D effects such as flowing air and scents.

Earlier this week, second grade students from teacher Mary Scheffler’s class, visited the room and learned about the northern lights and rainforests.

“This room is a great way for kids interact with a variety of topics using the latest technology,” said Scottville Elementary Principal Chris Etchison. “It’s great that its lesson plans are customized for different age levels.”

The room was funded by American Recovery Plan Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief funds provided by the federal government.
