SCOTTVILLE — The Mason County Central High School Competitive Cheer Team received a big send off this morning as the team headed to the state championships at Central Michigan University in Mt. Pleasant. The team received an escort from the Mason County Sheriff’s Office. The team bus drove past each MCC building, including Scottville Elementary (lower elementary) where the student body, faculty and staff held signs and shouted cheers of support and encouragement. The bus stopped briefly in front of the Upper Elementary where Coach Cheri Stibitz was greeted by her fourth grade students. The Mason County Central High School pep band played the school fight song in support. This is the second consecutive year the team has gone to the state finals. Fellow West Michigan Conference team, Hart Hart High School, is also competing today at the finals.
