Sherman Twp. man accused of rape, child porn

By Allison Scarbrough, Editor

LUDINGTON — A 26-year-old Sherman Township man was arraigned in Mason County’s 79th District Wednesday, Feb. 22, on eight criminal charges, including rape and child pornography.

Bradley Curtis Drake of 6060 N. Stiles Rd. is lodged in the Mason County Jail on a $100,000 cash/surety bond.

There are two criminal files in the matter, because there are two victims — one of whom is a 14-year-old girl, said Mason County Undersheriff Derrek Wilson. The other victim is an adult woman.

“Our detectives have put a lot together in a short period of time,” said Undersheriff Wilson. “This kicked off in January, and they’re still going through stuff — the longest stuff is the technology portion. There have been quite a few search warrants written.”

In one file, Drake is charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct, using a computer to commit a crime and child abusive commercial activity stemming from a Jan. 1, 2022 incident, according to court records.

In the other file, Drake is charged with unlawful imprisonment, using computers to commit a crime, possession of child sexually abusive material, interfering with electronic communications and domestic violence arising from a Nov. 26, 2022 incident.

Drake is scheduled to appear for a probable cause hearing before 79th District Court Judge John Middlebrook March 8 at 1 p.m. and a preliminary examination March 15 at 1:30 p.m.
