Two injured in head-on crash

HAMLIN TOWNSHIP — A head-on crash on Lakeshore Drive near Decker Road Friday, Feb. 17, around 3:30 p.m. sent the drivers of both vehicles to the hospital, according to Mason County Undersheriff Derrek Wilson.

A 45-year-old Ludington man and a 44-year-old Ludington woman were transported by Life EMS to Corewell Health Ludington Hospital (formerly Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital) for non-life threatening injuries, said Wilson.

The following is other police activity in Mason County over the weekend:

Friday, Feb. 17, 2023:

• 10:09 p.m., (Mason County Sheriff’s Office), alarm activation, South Pere Marquette Highway, Pere Marquette Township.

Saturday, Feb. 18, 2023: 

• 5:12 p.m., (Ludington Police Department), a 41-year-old Muskegon man was arrested on  an outstanding warrant issued by Mason County’s 79th District Court for failure to appear on a driving while license suspended (DWLS) charge. A Ludington police officer met a Manistee police officer at the county line for the prisoner transfer, and he was lodged in the Mason County Jail.
• 6:50 p.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injury, Custer Road near Powers Road, Custer Township.
• 6:59 p.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injury, Stiles Road near Johnson Road, Amber Township.
• 7:44 p.m., (MCSO), single-vehicle crash and an operating while intoxicated arrest, Stiles Road at Sugargrove Road, Victory Township. Deputies were dispatched to the crash, and after a subsequent investigation, a 25-year-old Scottville man was arrested for OWI. After being cleared by Corewell Health Ludington Hospital ‘s staff for non-life-threatening injuries, he was arrested and lodged in the Mason County Jail.

Sunday, Feb. 19, 2023:

• 12:24 a.m., (MCSO), following a traffic stop, a 57-year-old Twin Lake man was arrested on two criminal bench warrants in Muskegon County for contempt of court and failure to appear — both stemming from DWLS charges, US 10 near the US 31 bypass, Amber Township.
