Police looking for fugitive

PENTWATER, Oceana County — The Pentwater Police Department is looking for a wanted man who may be in the Pentwater area.

William Jon Monroe is wanted for failure to appear in Oceana County’s 51st Circuit Court for probation violation on a firearms conviction, according to court staff.

Monroe was convicted of felon in possession of a firearm, Jan. 31, 2022.

“He is wanted out of Oceana County for failure to appear, and he was seen up in this area,” said Pentwater Police Chief Laude Hartrum Thursday, Jan. 26. “We’re just trying to pin him down.”

Oceana County law enforcement received a tip that Monroe was in the area, said the chief. “We’re asking for people’s help to help us locate him.”

Monroe, 48, whose last known address is 212 W. Michigan St. Walkerville, was convicted in Oceana County of torturing/killing a dog in 2018. 

He is described as being 6’1” and 194 pounds with brown eyes.
