Man arrested for disorderly person, resisting arrest after allegedly refusing to pay for cab ride

PERE MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP — A 66-year-old Ludington man was arrested by Mason County sheriff’s deputies Wednesday, Jan. 25, around 8 p.m. on charges of disorderly person and resisting arrest after refusing to pay for a $6 cab ride, said Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole.

The incident occurred in the Roadway Inn parking lot on West US 10 “following a 911 call regarding a subject who was refusing to pay a $6 cab fare and seemed under the influence,” said Sheriff Cole. “When deputies arrived, the suspect reportedly refused to exit the cab and made threatening statements towards deputies. When removed from the vehicle, the suspect resisted deputies by struggling with them while they were attempting to handcuff him.”
