Driver seriously injured following crash on US 31 bypass

AMBER TOWNSHIP — The driver of a pickup truck sustained serious injuries following a two vehicle crash on the US 31 bypass near Scottville this morning. 

According to Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole, emergency crews were called to the scene, north of US 10, at 7:22 a.m. The crash resulted after a pickup truck, traveling northbound on US 31 lost control on slippery roads, spun out, and went into the path of a southbound semi truck.  The semi truck struck the pickup truck in the passenger side door causing major damage to both vehicles and critical injuries to the driver of the pickup truck.

The driver of the truck was transported by Life EMS ambulance to Corewell Health Ludington Hospital.

Emergency crews responding included Mason county Sheriff’s Office, Michigan State Police, Scottville Fire Department, Custer Fire Department, and Life EMS.
