Police investigate identity theft of $900

CUSTER TOWNSHIP — The Mason County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an identity theft that was reported Thursday, Jan. 5, around 2 p.m. in the 1700 block of South Darr Road, according to Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole.

“The complainant reported an unknown person opened a Charter Communications account and amassed a debt of over $900 under the name of the complainant,” said Sheriff Cole.

The following is other recent police activity in Mason County:

Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2023:

• 6:56 p.m., (Michigan State Police), a 41-year-old Free Soil man was cited for operating without insurance, US 10 near Dennis Road, Pere Marquette Highway Township.

Thursday, Jan. 5, 2023:

• ​12:26 a.m., (Ludington Police Department), a 29-year-old Muskegon man was arrested on an outstanding warrant issued in Muskegon County, ​Atkinson Drive​, City of Ludington. He was lodged in the Mason County Jail.
• 8:30 a.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injury, Main Street north of High Street, Village of Custer.
• ​12:04 p.m., (LPD), ​a 19-year-old Norton Shores woman was arrested for disorderly conduct, Atkinson Drive​, City of Ludington. She was lodged in the Mason County Jail.
• 2:12 p.m., (MCSO), two-vehicle crash, no injury, US 10 and Pere Marquette Highway, Pere Marquette Township.
• 5:21 p.m., (LPD), ​a 29-year-old Ludington woman was arrested on an outstanding failure to appear warrant issued by the 79th District Court, 200 block of West Ludington Ave​nue, City of Ludington.
• 8:59 p.m., (LPD), ​a 40-year-old Ludington man was cited for improper license plate, US 10 and Pere Marquette Highway, City of Ludington.
