Three-vehicle New Year’s Eve crash sends four people to the hospital.

Two Good Samaritans assisting stranded motorist suffer serious injuries.

GRANT TOWNSHIP — Four people were injured — two of whom were seriously hurt — in a three-vehicle crash Saturday, Dec. 31, at 1 a.m. on Hoague Road east of Amber Road, according to Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole.

“A 40-year-old Ludington woman had put her vehicle in the ditch on the north side of Hoague Road east of Amber,” said Sheriff Cole. “A resident in the area had come to assist and had his vehicle sideways in the road with a tow strap attached to the vehicle in the ditch. A third vehicle, operated by a 25-year-old East Lake man was driving westbound on Hoague and collided with the vehicle in the road. The two occupants in the vehicle that was assisting the stuck vehicle — a 31-year-old male driver and 41-year-old female passenger who are residents of Hoague Road — both received serious injuries. The driver of the westbound vehicle and the driver of the stuck vehicle both were hurt, but not seriously. All were transported by EMS to Munson Hospital in Manistee.”
