Couple wanted on criminal charges arrested by deputies after hiding in a building

LUDINGTON — A couple who were wanted on criminal charges were arrested by Mason County sheriff’s deputies after they hid from police in a building in the 800 block of North Emily Street Tuesday, Dec. 27, at 1:16 a.m., according to Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole.

A 29-year-old Ludington woman was arrested on a felony drug warrant issued by the Ludington Police Department, and a 25-year-old Ludington man was arrested during a search for a wanted female. It was learned during the investigation that he was wanted on a criminal bench warrant for failure to appear on a carrying a concealed weapons charge issued in Mason County.

During the arrest, the female suspect fought with deputies and is now also charged with assaulting/resisting/obstructing police, said Sheriff Cole.

The following is other police activity in Mason County Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2022:

  • 8:54 a.m., (Mason County Sheriff’s Office), unlawful driving away of an automobile/car theft, 7800 block of East Chickasaw Trail, Branch Township. The complainant reported the theft of a 2011 Dodge Charger. The vehicle was located by a deputy on Townline Road near US 31 several hours later unoccupied.
  • 12:12 p.m., (MCSO), two-vehicle hit-and-run crash, no injury, Jebavy Drive and US 10, Pere Marquette Township.
  • 2:16 p.m., (Ludington Police Department), a 67-year-old Ludington man was. arrested on an outstanding warrant issued by Manistee County’s 85th District Court for failure to appear for a show cause hearing, Sherman Street and Tinkham Avenue, City of Ludington. He was lodged in the Mason County Jail.
  • 5:12 p.m., (MCSO), one-vehicle crash, no injury, US 31 freeway north of Oceana Drive, Summit Township.
  • 10:32 p.m., (MCSO), one-vehicle crash, no injury, Dennis Road south of Hansen Road, Amber Township.
