LAS board to consider adjusting Sunday practice policy

LUDINGTON — The Ludington Area School District’s Board of Education will discuss a proposed change to allow high school athletic teams to practice on Sundays when it meets today for its regular meeting. Currently, the board’s policy stats that athletic teams shall not practice on Sundays unless there is a tournament on the following Monday.

Athletic Director Greg Pscodna is proposing the board change the policy because the West Michigan Conference teams regularly have games on Mondays and other teams within the league practice on Sundays.

Superintendent Kyle Corlett is proposing the following change in language:

“In season high school teams may use facilities on Sundays if they have a competition on Monday, granted that practice is after (noon), voluntary, and students who are not able to attend do not face consequences.”

The board meets at 6 p.m. in the Administration Office, 809 E. Tinkham Ave.
