Loaded handgun found in drunk driving suspect’s vehicle.

AMBER TOWNSHIP — A loaded 9mm handgun was found found under the driver’s seat by Mason County sheriff’s deputies during a drunk driving traffic stop on US 10 west of the US 31 bypass Friday, Oct. 14, shortly before 1:30 a.m., according to Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole.

A 23-year-old Baldwin man was arrested on charges of second-offense operating while intoxicated (OWI) and carrying a concealed weapon. He was lodged in the Mason County Jail.

Friday, Oct. 14, 2022:

  • 10:30 a.m., (Mason County Sheriff’s Office), two-vehicle crash, no injury, US 10 west of Nelson Road, Pere Marquette Township.
  • 11:25 a.m., (MCSO), two-vehicle crash, no injury, US 10 west of Nelson Road, Pere Marquette Township.
  • 6:26 p.m., (MCSO), gas drive-off, $48.23 in fuel stolen, Scottville EZ Mart, 400 block of East State Street, Custer Township. A report will be forwarded to the Mason County Prosecutor’s Office seeking charges against a 29-year-old Frankfort woman and 25-year-old Newaygo County man related to the gas drive-off.
  • 6:26 p.m., (MCSO), a 25-year-old Newaygo man was arrested on an outstanding Oceana County warrant for failure to appear after he had given sheriff’s deputies numerous false names during an investigation into a gas drive-off.
  • 7:08 p.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injury, Lakeshore Drive north of Bryant Road, Pere Marquette Township.
  • 7:48 p.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injury, US 10 west of Tuttle Road, Custer Township.

Saturday, Oct. 15, 2022:

  • 5:27 p.m., (MCSO),a 56-year-old Ludington man was arrested for second-offense OWI following a suspicious vehicle call, 2400 block of Brunson Road, Pere Marquette Township.
  • 7:26 p.m., ​(MCSO), car/deer crash, no injury, US 10 east of Maple Road, Branch Township.
  • 9:06 p.m., (Ludington Police Department), a 31-year-old Ludington man was cited for driving without a license, ​Dowland and James​ streets, City of Ludington.
  • ​9:49 p.m., (LPD), a 45-year-old Ludington man was arrested for domestic assault, 600 block of North Lavinia Street​, City of Ludington. The victim, who is a 47-year-old Ludington woman, was not injured during the incident. The man was lodged in the Mason County Jail.
  • 10 p.m., (MCSO), stolen license plate, Hamlin Township. The victim reported his Michigan plate — 7NML88 — was stolen off his vehicle.

Sunday, Oct. 16, 2022:

  • 7:36 a.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injury, Quarterline Road north of Koenig Road, Grant Township.
  • 8:50 a.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injury, Lakeshore Drive north of Decker Road, Hamlin Township.
  • 9:10 a.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injury, Walhalla Road south of Kinney Road, Logan Township.
  • 12:02 p.m., (MCSO), a 55-year-old Custer man was cited for driving while license suspended following a traffic stop, US 10 and Darr Road, Custer Township.
  • 2:52 p.m., (MCSO), alarm activation, City of Scottville.
