Teen allegedly pours gas around family’s yard, threatening to light it on fire.

BRANCH TOWNSHIP —A 17-year-old Fountain boy was referred to juvenile court following a 911 call reporting that the teen was pouring gasoline around family’s yard and threatening to light it on fire Saturday, Oct. 8, around 7:30 p.m. on Tallman Lake Road, said Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole.

When a Mason County sheriff’s deputy arrived, the juvenile reportedly fled on foot into the woods. He was captured following a foot chase and turned over to the jurisdiction of juvenile court, said Sheriff Cole.

  • 6:46 p.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injury, Millerton Road east of Reek Road, Sherman Township.

Saturday, Oct. 8, 2022:

  • 11:23 a.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injury, Marrison Road east of Tuttle Road, Eden Township.
  • 3 p.m., (MCSO), two-vehicle crash, no injury, Fountain Road east of Angling Road, Victory Township.
  • ​6:26 p.m., (LPD), ​a 32-year-old Scottville man was arrested for operating while under the influence of drugs, 400 block of South James Street​, City of Ludington. He was lodged in the Mason County Jail.
  • 8 p.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injury, US 31 freeway north of Oceana Drive, Summit Township.
  • ​10 p.m., (Ludington Police Department), ​a 29-year-old Ludington woman was arrested by Ludington police and Mason County sheriff’s deputies on two outstanding warrants issued in Mason County, 5300 block of West US 10, City of Ludington. One warrant was for failure to appear on a drug possession charge, and the other warrant was for an unspecified traffic charge. The woman was lodged in the Mason County Jail.

Sunday, Oct. 9, 2022:

  • 12:16 a.m., (MCSO), ​a 22-year-old Scottville man was arrested for operating while intoxicated following a traffic stop, US 10 and US 31 bypass, Amber Township.
  • 1:47 a.m.,  (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injury, Victory Corners Road south of Decker Road, Amber Township.
  • 3:45 a.m.,  (MCSO), one-vehicle crash, minor injury, Scottville Road north of Washington Road, Eden Township. A 60-year-old Shelby woman was injured after her vehicle left the road and struck a pole.
  • 7:30 a.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injury, US 10 and Landon Road, Branch Township.
  • 1:12 p.m., (MCSO), two-vehicle crash, with injury, Custer and Sugar Grove roads, Sherman Township. A 49-year-old Richman, Virginia woman was injured after the vehicle she was operating failed to stop for the Custer Road stop sign while westbound on Sugar Grove Road and was broadsided by a southbound vehicle, said Sheriff Cole.
  • 2:50 p.m,. (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injury, Lakeshore Drive near Abrahamson Road, Hamlin Township.
