Man, 79, arrested for DWLS and resisting arrest after refusing ride home from deputies.

HAMLIN TOWNSHIP — A 79-year-old Ludington man was arrested by Mason County sheriff’s deputies following a traffic stop Saturday, Oct. 1, shortly after 4 p.m. at the intersection of Lakeshore Drive and Neil Road when he refused to exit his vehicle and accept a ride home, according to Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole. His driver’s license is suspended, and he is not allowed to legally drive, said Sheriff Cole.

The man was arrested on charges of driving while license suspended (DWLS) and resisting arrest.

Friday, Sept. 30, 2022:

  • 3:57 a.m., alarm activation, Branch Township.
  • 12:22 p.m., two-vehicle crash, no injury, US 10 east of Brye Road, Amber Township.
  • 1:53 p.m.,  breaking and entering, 5100 block of South Scottville Road, Eden Township. The complainant reported a person someone believed to be someone they know broke into their home.
  • 4:32 p.m., gas drive-off, $130.88 in fuel stolen, 100 block of East State Street, City of Scottville.
  • 5:27 p.m., three-vehicle crash, minor injury, State Street west of Main Street, City of Scottville. A 73-year-old Jenison man received minor injuries after his vehicle was rear-ended on State Street in Scottville.
  • 5:41 p.m., car/deer crash, no injury, Lakeshore Drive north of Jagger Road, Hamlin Township.
  • 11:49 p.m., car/deer crash, no injury, Scottville Road north of Kinney Road, Eden Township.

Saturday, Oct. 1, 2022:

  • 3:16 a.m., car/deer crash, no injury, US 31 north of Johnson Road, Amber Township.
  • 8:11 a.m., car/deer crash, no injury, US 10 west of Main Street, Village of Custer.
  • 2:24 p.m., two-vehicle crash, no injury, US 10 and Brye Road, Amber Township.
  • 5:35 p.m., car/deer crash, no injury, Jebavy Drive north of Bryant Road, Pere Marquette Township.
  • 7:30 p.m., a 35-year-old Fountain man was arrested on two outstanding warrants, 4800 block of North Cleveland Street, Village of Fountain. He had a criminal bench warrant for failure to appear issued in Muskegon County and another warrant for dangerous drugs issued in Mason County.

Sunday, Oct. 2, 2022:

  • 5:30 a.m., car/deer crash, no injury, US 31 south of Fountain Road, Sherman Township.
  • 12:14 p.m., assault, 300 block of North Taylor Road, Branch Township. The reported will be forwarded to the Mason County Prosecutor’s Office for review and possible charges.
