K-9 bites fleeing suspect.

PERE MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP —K-9 Officer Diego with the Mason County Sheriff’s Office helped capture and contain a suspect Saturday, Sept. 10.

A 29-year-old Hart man was arrested following a 911 call reporting a domestic assault around 10:30 p.m. in the 5700 block of West Johnson Road, said Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole.

“The suspect reportedly fled from the scene, and K-9 Diego and Deputy Ken Baum were called in to track,” said Sheriff Cole. “Diego tracked the suspect, eventually locating him north of the residence, and during the arrest the suspect started struggling and resisting Deputy Baum, at which time the suspect was bit by Diego.” The suspect was treated for a minor arm injury due to the dog bite.

The man faces charges of domestic violence, interfering with telecommunications and resisting and opposing arrest.
