Domestic violence victim escapes abuser by locking herself in Walmart bathroom.

PERE MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP — A domestic violence victim was able to escape her abuser by locking herself in a Walmart bathroom stall Saturday, Aug. 13, shortly after 3:30 p.m., according to Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole.

The assault occurred on Pineway Street in the City of Ludington, said Sheriff Cole. A 22-year-old Brethren man was arrested following a 911 call reporting an assault at the Ludington Walmart.

“It was learned during the investigation the reported assault took place in the City of Ludington, however,” said Sheriff Cole. “The victim was able to separate herself from the suspect once at Walmart, when the victim ran into the women’s restroom and locked herself in a bathroom stall.”
