Man fights with police during arrest in Walmart parking lot.

PERE MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP — A 39-year-old Ludington man fought with police during his arrest Tuesday, Aug. 9, shortly before 3 p.m.in the Walmart parking lot, according to Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole.

In addition to the misdemeanor stalking charge in the warrant, the man now also faces a felony charge of assaulting/resisting/obstructing police.

“He was arrested on an outstanding misdemeanor warrant out of Ludington Police Department for stalking following a traffic stop,” said Sheriff Cole. “During the stop, the suspect refused to exit his vehicle and put the vehicle in reverse, attempting to leave, while the deputy was attempting to remove him from the vehicle. The subject was removed from the vehicle and actively fought with two Mason County Sheriff’s Office deputies and a Michigan State Police trooper.”

  • 7:15 a.m., (Mason County Sheriff’s Office), car/deer crash, no injury, US 10 west of Taylor Road, Branch Township.
  • 8:33 a.m., (MCSO), a 35 year-old Fountain man was arrested on a felony warrant for unlawful driving away of an automobile issued by the Muskegon Police Department following a traffic stop, Jebavy Drive and US 10, Pere Marquette Township.
  • 10:29 a.m., (MCSO), larceny, Mason County Fairgrounds, Pere Marquette Township. The complainant reported that a pair of work boots was stolen from his vehicle.
  • 2:40 p.m., (Ludington Police Department), a 37-year-old Ludington man was cited for driving while license suspended (DWLS), Madison and First​ streets, City of Ludington.
  • 5:25 p.m., (MCSO), two-vehicle crash, minor injury, US 10 west of Pere Marquette Highway, Pere Marquette Township.
  • 6:15 p.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injury, Sugar Grove Road west of Custer Road , Sherman Township.
