Motorcyclist avoids serious injury after hitting deer.

AMBER TOWNSHIP — A 35-year-old Ludington man suffered “non-life-threatening injuries” after he struck a deer with his motorcycle Friday, Aug. 5, shortly after midnight on US 31 north of Hansen Road, according to Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole.

The following is other police activity in Mason County over the weekend:

Friday, Aug. 5, 2022:

  • ​1:07 p.m., (Ludington Police Department), ​a 51-year-old Ludington man was arrested on two outstanding 79th District Court warrants for failure to appear on charges of driving while license suspended (DWLS), 200 block of East Ludington Avenue, City of Ludington. He was lodged in the Mason County Jail.
  • 4:43 p.m., (Mason County Sheriff’s Office), two-vehicle crash causing injury, Free Soil and Schoenherr roads, Meade Township. A 40-year-old Free Soil woman and a 50-year-old Arizona man were both injured after the vehicle they were traveling in was rear-ended while they were stopped to make a left turn. Both were treated at Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
  • 5 p.m., (MCSO), two-vehicle hit-and-run crash, no injury, 3900 block of West US 10, Amber Township.
  • ​10:38 p.m., (LPD), a 30-year-old Ludington man was arrested for assault and battery, ​200 block of South James Street​, City of Ludington. The victim, a 54-year-old Ludington man, was not injured. The suspect was lodged in the Mason County Jail.
  • 10:49 p.m., (LPD), ​an 18-year-old Ludington woman was cited for second-offense minor consuming alcohol, 200 block of West Ludington Ave​nue, City of Ludington.

Saturday, Aug. 6, 2022:

  • 1:25 a.m., (MCSO), alarm activation, Hamlin Township.
  • 4:56 a.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injury, US 10 east of Dennis Road, Amber Township.
  • 11:36 a.m., (MCSO), ​ATV crash causing injury, 3500 block of East Beyer Road, Sherman Township. A 73-year-old Fountain man received minor injuries after the ATV he was riding left the road and overturned.
  • 4:20 p.m., (Michigan State Police), a 26-year-old Fountain man was arrested for driving while license suspended and operating without insurance, Campbell Road near Millerton Road, Sheridan Township.

Sunday, Aug. 7, 2022:

  • 2:30 a.m., (MCSO), a 36-year-old Ludington man was arrested for operating while intoxicated following a traffic stop, US 10 and Dennis Road, Amber Township.
  • 4:18 a.m., (MCSO), alarm activation, Pere Marquette Township.
  • 7:43 p.m., (MCSO), two-vehicle crash, no injury, US 10 and Brye Road, Amber Township.
  • 10:45 p.m., (LPD), ​a 39-year-old Chelsea man was arrested for public intoxication, 400 block of South Washington Ave​nue, City of Ludington. He was lodged in the Mason County Jail.
  • 11:34 p.m., (MCSO), harassment/misuse of a telecommunication device (cell phone), East Johnson Road, Custer Township. A report will be forwarded to the Mason County Prosecutor’s Office for review and potential charges.
