LPD honored for achieving MLEAC accreditation.

LUDINGTON — Members of the Michigan Association of Chiefs of Police attended the Ludington City Council meeting Monday night, July 25, to present the Ludington Police Department with a plaque celebrating the LPD’s achievement of accreditation through the Michigan Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission.

“The LPD has undergone a voluntary self-review of its policies, directives, and practices over the past year and a half,” said Cpt. Steve Wietrzykowski. “The MLEAC requires that to become accredited, agencies must meet 108 standards. The standards are comprised of best practices, policies, and procedures of contemporary law enforcement.”

The award was presented by Accreditation Program Director Neal Rossow, Accreditation Program Executive Director Robert Stevensen and MACP President Larry Weeks. Ludington Police Chief Timothy Kozal and Captain Steve Wietrzykowski accepted the plaque on behalf of the department.
