Police agencies work in tandem to arrest alleged sex offender.

SCOTTVILLE — A 49-year-old Scottville man was arrested on a felony charge of first-degree criminal sexual conduct following a combined investigation by the Scottville Police Department and the Mason County Sheriff’s Office, according to a press release issued by Scottville Police Chief Matt Murphy and Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole.

“On July 12, 2022, the Scottville Police Department requested assistance from the Mason County Sheriff’s Office in the investigation of a possible criminal sexual conduct — first degree complaint in the City of Scottville. The Mason County Sheriff’s Office and SPD conducted a joint investigation,” states the press release.

“MCSO detectives, throughout the week, conducted interviews and collected potential evidence related to a sexual assault complaint. On Saturday, July 16, 2022, MCSO detectives arrested a 49 year-old Scottville, Michigan man on a charge of CSC — first degree related to the original complaint taken by SPD.

“This is an ongoing investigation by both agencies and further details will be released at a later time.”
