County planning commission seeks input on zoning ordinance.

The Mason County Planning Commission is in the process of reviewing and updating the county’s zoning ordinance. The ordinance is updated every five years following the update of the county’s master plan, which was completed in 2021.

The planning commission is looking at areas within the ordinance that need updates based on feedback from the public, updates to the master plan, and updates to state statutes. The project is scheduled to be completed in April, 2023. The townships within Mason County whom participate in county zoning are Amber, Branch, Custer, Eden, Logan, Meade, Riverton, Sherman, Sheridan, Summit, and Victory. The cities of Ludington and Scottville,  along with the townships of Hamlin, Pere Marquette, Free Soil and Grant, have their own zoning ordinances.

The survey can be accessed here.
