Couple arrested for meth possession at local park.

​A 50-year-old Ludington man and a 39-year-old Ludington woman were arrested by Ludington police officers for methamphetamine possession at ​1:30 p.m. at ​Copeyon Park Wednesday, July 6, according to Cpt. Steve Wietrzykowski of the Ludington Police Department. Both suspects were lodged in the Mason County Jail.

A third meth arrest occurred Wednesday when a 22-year-old Traverse City man was arrested was Mason County sheriff’s deputies following a traffic stop shortly before 10 p.m. at US 10 and US 31 in Amber Township, said Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole. “He had reportedly given a fake name to Mason County Sheriff’s Office deputies, but had meth on his person. At booking, when fingerprinted, he came back wanted out of Grand Traverse County for probation violation. The suspect faces charges of meth possession and furnishing false identification to police in addition to his outstanding probation violation warrant. A 44 year-old Free Soil man, who was a passenger, was arrested on an outstanding Crawford County warrant, said Sheriff Cole.

  • 5:41 a.m., car/deer crash, no injury, US 10 east of Gibson Road, Branch Township.
  • 6:18 a.m., car/deer crash, no injury, US 10 east of Darr Road, Custer Township.
  • 2:16 p.m., two-vehicle crash, no injury, US 31 north of US 10, Amber Township.
  • 3:02 p.m., a 36-year-old Fountain man was arrested following a traffic stop on two outstanding criminal bench warrants for failure to appear issued in Mason County, US 10 and Meyers Road, Pere Marquette Township.
  • 3:30 p.m., ​a 51-year-old Ludington man was cited for driving while license suspended following a traffic stop, Dennis Road and Victory Drive, Victory Township.
  • 7:29 p.m., two-vehicle hit-and-run crash, no injury, US 10 east of Jackson Road, Pere Marquette Township.
