Failing culvert closes portion of Beyer Rd.

SHERMAN TOWNSHIP — The Mason County Road Commission has closed a portion of Beyer Road, between Stephens and Reek roads, due to a failing culvert. The 5-foot-diameter culvert is in bad condition and the concrete headwall has cracked and is tilting to the north, according to Mason County Road Commission Engineer Eric Nelson. The road commission is applying for emergency permits from Michigan Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE).

Barricades will be place on Beyer Road at Stephens and Reek roads to warn motorists of the closure. The roadway will be closed for several weeks.
