Ludington man dies in single vehicle crash at state park.

HAMLIN TOWNSHIP — A 61-year-old Ludington man died Friday evening in a single vehicle crash on M-116 the Ludington State Park. According to Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole, emergency crews were called to the state park at 11:10 p.m. They discovered that the vehicle had failed to stop at the State Park contact station, struck the wooden retaining wall, went airborne striking a pine tree, and then overturning.  The driver, and lone occupant, was pronounced deceased at the scene.  

The driver’s name is being withheld pending notification of family.

Emergency units on scene included Mason County Sheriff’s Office, Hamlin Township Fire Department, Ludington Fire Department, and Life EMS. 

The case remains under investigation by the Mason County Sheriff’s Office Crash Re-construction Team.
