79th District Court news, posted April 8, 2022.

LUDINGTON — The following court proceedings recently occurred in Mason County’s 79th District Court:

Felonies

Case

-Matthew Jason Case, 48, of 109 S. Columbia St., Scottville, was arrested March 25 by the Mason County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) on a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine/ecstasy). Probable cause hearing: April 13 at 1 p.m. Bail: $10,000 cash.

Wellman

– Robert Wellman, 58, has been arraigned in 79th District Court by Michigan State Police – Hart Post, for embezzlement of a vulnerable adult and habitual offender, fourth offense. The charges originated in 2017, according to court records. Wellman is currently serving a prison term for arson in a 2015 case from Mecosta County. He was sentenced to two to seven years imprisonment on two counts of arson on Feb. 7, 2022. He previously had been convicted for fourth degree arson in 2015, false report of a felony in 2013, burning other real property in 1992 and 1998, larceny of a building in 1988, attempted uttering a publishing in 1986, and larceny from a motor vehicle in 1984; case: 18-12284FY.
-Deshawn Erik Latimer, 34, of 909 S. Washington Ave., Ludington, was arrested March 31 by the Ludington Police Department (LPD) on a felony charge of third offense domestic violence. Probable cause hearing: April 13 at 1 p.m. Bail: $5,000/10 percent.

Strejcek

-Jared Wilson Strejcek, 24, of 3906 E. Fountain Rd., Fountain, was arrested March 25 by LPD on a felony charge of carrying a concealed weapon. Probable cause hearing: April 6 at 1 p.m. Bail: $5,000 cash.

Rodriguez

-Krista Michelle Rodriguez, 45, of PO Box 552, Ludington, was arrested March 27 by parole office on a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine/ecstasy). Probable cause hearing: April 6 at 1 p.m. Bail: $5,000/10 percent.

– Daniel James Rodriguez, 47, of Ludington; controlled substance possession, methamphetamine/ecstacy; arrested by U.S. Forest Service law enforcement; arraigned April 3, 2022; probable cause conference scheduled for April 13 at 1 p.m.; case: 22-025FY

Martinez

– Ashley Anne Martinez; 33; larceny, more than $1,000 but less than $20,000; financial transaction device, illegal use of a credit card, three counts; habitual offender fourth conviction; arrested by Ludington Police Department; arraigned April 1, 2022; probable cause hearing, April 13 at 1 p.m.; case, 22-116FY

 

 

 

Misdemeanors
-Lorraine Mary Hill, 44, of 413 E. Dowland St., Ludington; Feb. 21; MCSO; three counts of second-degree retail fraud. Pretrail: TBD. Bail: $500 personal recognizance.

-Dylan Duane Drake, 25, of 2435 N. 18th St., Fountain; March 25; MCSO, DWLS. Also arrested March 25 by Michigan State Police (MSP) for second-offense DWLS. Pretrial: April 4 at 1:30 p.m. Bail: $100 cash.

-Erik Matthew Doffing, 30, of 212 N. Franklin St., Ludington; March 26; LPD; domestic violence. Pretrial: April 4 at 10:45 a.m. Bail: $5,000/10 percent.

– Tiera Leigh Pierce, 41, of Ludington; arrested by Ludington Police Department; arraigned April 4, 2022; assault and battery; pre-trial conference, April 18, 9 am. Case: 21-14740SM.

– Phillip Andrew Lloyd; year of birth, 1965; operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated; arrested by Mason County Sheriff’s Office; arraigned April 7, 2022; pre-trial hearing, April 18, 10:45 a.m.; case, 22-104SD

– Glenn Martin Love, 51, of Scottville; furnishing/selling alcohol to a minor, five counts; arrested by Mason County Sheriff’s Office; arraigned on April 7, 2022; pre-trial hearing, April 18, 2022; case, 22-120SM

Sentencings
-Michael Theodore Powell, 49, of 6740 E. Marshall Rd., Branch Township, pleaded guilty March 30 to driving while license suspended (DWLS) and was sentenced to one year discretionary jail for one year and $750 in fines/costs. Conviction is reportable to Secretary of State (SOS).  Charges of failure to maintain security (no vehicle insurance) and unlawful license plates were dismissed.

Dismissals
-Jerry Bill Cissine, 53, of 6491 E. Glenn Ln., Sheridan Township, had a charge of domestic violence dismissed on March 29. According to court documents, the dismissal was, “in the best interest of justice and to prevent further traumatization to the victim.”

  • Raquel Angela Lopez, had a charge of driving while license suspended dismissed.
